EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH CONCHITA CAMPBELL

The4400Guide: What have you been up to since the last season?
Conchita Campbell: After The 4400 wrapped last season, I went to Europe for a little while to spend some time with my grandparents and to do some publicity for The 4400 in France. When I came back I filmed Supernatural, another TV series. While I was in Poland I did hike in The Tatra Mountains and it was beautiful. My mom used to climb so she knows the mountains very well. We stayed overnight in the mountain hut in The Valley of Five Lakes, shared the room with another 10 tourists and laughed till the middle of the night because everybody was telling jokes. It was a lot of fun.

The4400Guide: How did you know you wanted to be an actress?
Conchita Campbell: I just always knew that I loved to perform and always liked to entertain. With acting I just love that I can get into different characters.

The4400Guide: Were you nervous the first time you were on TV?
Conchita Campbell: I was not nervous when I was on TV but when I was younger, I would always hide behind my mom.

The4400Guide: How did you get the part of Maia Rutledge on The 4400? Did you have to prepare to be a little ‘old fashioned’ because Maia was abducted from so long ago?
Conchita Campbell: I auditioned for the part. Before I auditioned I thought about this little girl and how she would feel and then I tried to imagine that it was me. I don’t know that I did anything old fashioned, I just thought like a little girl.

The4400Guide: What do you like about Maia? Are you like her in any way? I am assuming you can’t see the future.
Conchita Campbell: I like everything about Maia, she is a very cool girl. I really like playing the character. It is so much fun! And no, I can’t see the future (or can I?)

The4400Guide: What’s the most challenging part about being Maia?
Conchita Campbell: I think the most challenging part about playing Maia is that she is old fashioned, but it is not really that hard.

The4400Guide: If you were to have any ability as a 4400, which one would you want?
Conchita Campbell: Maybe an ability to travel back in time and see my parents one more time or the ability to bring my parents back so they can be with me now.

The4400Guide: Which episode of The 4400 has been your favorite?
Conchita Campbell: I love all the episodes but if I had to choose I would say the Pilot. It had something very special and everyone felt it. Also the director, Ives Simoneau, was great. I loved it because it was so interesting.

The4400Guide: What scenes on The 4400 were the hardest to act, why?
Conchita Campbell: I really don’t think I had any scenes that were hard for me to act because I love every minute of it. Maybe the scene where I was in my "sister’s" house and was taken by the bodyguard and had to struggle with him. I had to be careful not to kick him too hard.

The4400Guide: Has your life changed a lot since you started on The 4400?
Conchita Campbell: Not really, because I am still the same me with the same values, same friends and still do the same stuff as before. I just feel lucky that I have a passion.

The4400Guide: What was it like walking down the red carpet for the Emmy Awards?
Conchita Campbell: It was an amazing experience. I loved every minute of it and tried to take it all in. It was so much fun to be there.

The4400Guide: How did you feel when you found out you could spoof Dakota Fanning in Scary Movie 4?
Conchita Campbell: I really like Dakota as a girl and as an actress so I was very, very happy.

The4400Guide: Have you made friends with other Hollywood kids? Is it hard to make friends when people know who you are?
Conchita Campbell: I have a friend Jasmine Anthony in LA who is an actress. We actually met in Paris, at The Musee d’Orsay. We had a lot of fun together. She was on a break from filming in London and I was there for publicity. I don’t know if it is hard to make friends because I have my very good friends that I’ve known since I was a little girl. I have friends from school and my friends in Poland so I feel very lucky. I don’t think that because I act it is harder to make friends.

The4400Guide: Are you planning on doing more movies? Is there any role you would just love to have?
Conchita Campbell: I am planning to act for a long time and I would love to do an adventurous movie like Indiana Jones.

The4400Guide: What has been your favorite acting role, outside The 4400?
Conchita Campbell: I like all my roles, but I liked playing Rachel in Scary Movie 4 because it was a great spoof of the War of the Worlds. I also loved it because I got to go in a harness which was so much fun!

The4400Guide: Who have been your favorite actors to work with?
Conchita Campbell: I like all the actors I worked with, but Jackie Mackenzie, who plays Diana on The 4400, has a very special spot in my heart. We have been working together for the past three seasons and now the fourth so we have a special bond together. She is a beautiful person and is very funny.

The4400Guide: Who is the most silly of all The 4400 actors? Who is always late? Who do you admire most?
Conchita Campbell: Everyone from the cast has a great time on this show. We all are silly in our special ways and I like to have fun with all the cast members. I would say that I admire Jackie because we have such a special connection.

The4400Guide: What was it like to work with Jenson Ackles and Jared Padalecki on Supernatural?
Conchita Campbell: They both were a lot of fun to work with and I was really happy that I got the part.

The4400Guide: We hear a rumor that there is a swear jar on The 4400 set that you have control over. What happens to that money?
Conchita Campbell: Funny, it is not a rumor. If I catch someone swearing then they have to put one dollar into the swear jar. It is a good thing because everybody tries not to swear around me. So far nothing happened with the money, it is still in the jar, but I am planning on donating it to the S.P.C.A

The4400Guide: Are you excited to get back to work on The 4400?
Conchita Campbell: I am always exited to work on The 4400. It is such a great show and such a nice group of people to work with. I love playing Maia and I really feel like I know her very well, so it is not hard for me to get back into the character.

The4400Guide: What would you most like to see happen in this season of The 4400?
Conchita Campbell: I would like to get some more answers why the 4400 people were taken, how come they never aged a day, and why did some of us return with abilities?

The4400Guide: Can you tell us any hints of what Maia will be doing in Season 4?
Conchita Campbell: Maia is a bit older and wiser and I think Season 4 will be very, very good. The BEST yet!

The4400Guide: Thank you Conchita for the interview. We are all very excited to see you back in Season 4 of The 4400 and to see what awaits Maia in all the growing controversy around people with abilities.

Tune in June 17 for the return of The 4400 and visit ConchitaCampbell.com for more information about Conchita.
