PILOT
Season 1

Maia is on a picnic outing with her parents in California. The date is March 3, 1946, and the little blonde girl is eight years old. Although the day isn't sunny, Maia pleads to wander the surrounding area, hoping to pick some wildflowers. Her parents, never thinking this will be the last time they see their child, smile and tell her to go ahead; Maia promises not to get wet. As she gathers white flowers, a bright light appears over her, drowning out the rest of the world. It disappears in a flash, revealing only plucked white flowers dropped and wilting on the ground. The 4400 are brought to a building for quarantine, examination and debriefing. They're eventually released back to their families, if family exists. For some, like Maia, there is no one - her parents had died years earlier, so she's placed with foster parents. As the 4400 begin to try and reconnect with their lives, it's soon determined that all is not well. Aside from difficulties fitting back in, some of the returnees begin to experience unexplainable, and for some uncontrollable, new abilities. Maia exhibits clairvoyance, giving Orson a hankerchief just before he has a nose bleed, telling her foster parents that she doesn't want her shoes on the floor because they'll get wet, and the washing machine floods later that night, water flowing right where her shoes had been. They take her to visit her parents' graves, and are quite spooked when she tells them they'll be in the nicer cemetary down the road - when they're buried. The cherry on top is that a mailer shows up the next day, inviting them to by a plot in the cemetary Maia had mentioned. They bring her back to Dennis at Homeland Security.

THE NEW AND IMPROVED CARL MORRISSEY
Season 1

Tom and Diana talk to Maia about her clairvoyance, but she doesn't know how or why it happens. She knows that the tests they'll be performing may hurt, and is upset about it. Maia asks Diana if she'll look in on her. Diana is surprised, but agrees. Later, Diana looks in on Maia, who has been left alone in an exam gown in an examination room, by doctors. Diana's quite irritated, and tells Maia she's going to have a talk w/ doctors when they come back. Maia asks Diana if she can come live with her. She says Diana is alone, and doesn't like it. Diana is surprised, and resists, but says she'll think about it. Near the end of the episode: Diana signs a bunch of paperwork, and takes Maia home with her. Maia's suitcase is already packed.

BECOMING
Season 1

Diana gets home, and the babysitter, Iris, an older woman, tells her can't watch Maia again. After she leaves, Maia tells Diana she told Iris they wouldn't be seeing each other for a couple of weeks, because she'd be getting jury duty, and sure enough Iris' husband called later to tell her she'd received her summons in the mail. Maia is clearly upset and Diana hugs her. As Maia sleeps on the couch, Diana comes over to her, just in time to hear the report that a list of the 4400 returnee's names and addresses have been leaked on the internet.

TRIAL BY FIRE
Season 1

Tom and Diana search through the rubble of Richard and Lily's home, finding the remains of a pipe bomb - an amateur's work. Apparently there have been several incident, since the addresses and names were made public knowledge, and both agents are worried about their own 4400 connections. Tom has had his sister upgrade her security system, and Diana says she's very worried about Maia. Tom asks if she's thought about having Maia stay at Homeland Security's facilities until things calm down; she had and asked Maia about it, and the girl started to cry. Diana seems amazed to know that Maia really would rather be with her; he tells her he's glad to hear it's working out with them. At Maia's school, Diana apologizes for being late, and is told by one of administrators there that she can't bring Maia back. Maia's done nothing, but they have to consider the safety of the other children, now that the little girl's name is out as a 4400. When they're in the car, Diana tells Maia she'll figure something out, get her back into school; this type of treatment is wrong. Maia comforts Diana, saying, "Someone's coming who will make everything better. We just have to wait a little longer."

WHITE LIGHT
Season 1

It seems that Tom and Diana were summoned by Lytell, not Ryland. They quickly learn that the reason why he's picked them to be the lucky first team to be the focus of his attention is because of their personal connections to the abductees -Shawn, Kyle, and Maia. He asks Diana about the accounts of Maia's clairvoyance, and points out that since Maia has been staying with Diana, the agent has made no reports about Maia's behavior. Diana says this should all be irrelevant, since Dennis approved Maia's placement with her. Lytell ignores that, and points out how thin Shawn's file is. Tom says just accuse them of whatever he's getting at, and be done, so they can get back to work. He tells them he believes they're too close to be effective in the 4400 investigations; they say they're uniquely able to be effective because they're so close. Lytell brings up Ryland, and Tom quickly makes the observation that Dennis is Lytell's target. Lytell tells them Dennis got this office, considered a 'backwater' as a way to serve his last few years quietly, as a reward, but once the 4400 landed in his backyard, the free ride was over. He tells them things are going to change, and they can either cooperate or be swept away.
